My First Official Lazy Day
As I told you guys, I am taking Fridays OFF, ALL DAY!! I did slice 60# of soap this morning, but that's it! So I have been enjoying the day immensly so far! Am using my hubby's computer to look at blogs and things our old computer goes into a coma over! Wow, what a difference! So I have been catching up on some reading, doing some research (trying to learn more tips and tricks on the Etsy site) and we are planning on going to see "it's Complicated" with Meryl Streep, she's not going with us, she's in the movie! I will read more of the book I'm working on and already have the next one lined up! The current read is "the Mom & Pop Store"- How the unsung heroes of the American Economy are surviving and Thriving. By Robert Spector. I could get used to this! I have never had a regular day off since I have been self employed! I hope you all are enjoying your day as much as I am enjoying this one!

Does this mean that I have to wait 10 years before getting a day off?!? I'm still in the process of getting things up and running, and seeing what works and what doesn't. Please tell me it gets easier. I know you have worked hard for your "day off"...when does the first "vacation" happen?

Michelle, the one thing I have FINALLY figured out is that you really need to take some time off. It's hard for me because I can always find something that needs to be done in the Studio and since it's here at home, just walking through it I'll see something that I need to work on. Part of the thing too is that I truly love what I do, so it's almost an addiction of sorts, but in the couple of Fridays that I have taken off, it really has been a good thing, it sort of recharges your batteries. In the summer I was doing 5 Farmers Markets a week, and I don't recommend that if you do it alone, either at Market or making product, and it's really hard to come up with new ideas for products/packaging etc when you are SO immersed in it.
As far as vacations go, we don't do much of that, usually on our anniversary we'll take the weekend off, and that's it. But the good news is, your company is YOUR company, so do it however it works for you! I think if I had to do it over again, I would have taken more "me" time. It's important to take a step back and breathe!
Wishing you continued success, your Goat Milk Lotions rock!
